The park side houses
Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park is the landmark: a red brick Edwardian building with its front on Knightsbridge and its back on the park. Guests and visitors alike come in from Knightsbridge itself, because the park door behind is kept for ceremonial occasions. Inside, the lobby is compact and the lifts are close, a building that is easy to cross quickly.
The Berkeley, on Wilton Place, is a modern building with a celebrated bar and a rooftop pool, set slightly back from the traffic. Its forecourt is a proper set down point, which suits a car arriving late. The Wellesley, at Hyde Park Corner, is small and hushed, with a jazz bar downstairs and the air of a private house.
